Datacenter Farm / Curtailable & Batch Compute

Curtailable and batch compute on field gas.

Workloads that can pause, checkpoint, or step down when field gas pressure drops or compressor maintenance occurs unlock the largest pool of oilfield gas sites. Associated gas at tank batteries, stranded gathering taps, and flare-mitigation pads rarely offer utility-grade 99.99% uptime from a single well, yet they can support modular containers from 500 kW to 10+ MW when the operator states a clear interruption tolerance.

Before Methane.Exchange screens gas suppliers for your fleet, write down four operational boundaries: minimum continuous run window between checkpoints, acceptable ramp-down notice (seconds vs. minutes), minimum turndown load on your generator bank, and minimum deployment term on a single pad before relocation.

What to note in the description box:

  • Container count, kW per container, and voltage at your skid boundary (such as 480V three-phase or 13.8 kV).
  • Whether you bring your own reciprocating generators or need a third-party generator package on the pad.
  • How many hours per week or month the workload can step down during well workovers or gathering upsets.
  • Backhaul requirement (dual-carrier satellite, point-to-point microwave, or dark fiber only).
